The Thermowood® process is a special process implemented to create superior woods. Natural and perfect features are obtained with modification of wood with steam and thermal methods.

The people working on wood conducted research-development works to improve the properties of the wood for years. The Finnish scientists developed Thermowood® method presenting most perfect modified wooden products in 1990s.


The Thermowood® products obtain superior properties at the end of natural change process by use of thermal processes. It creates woods much more stable and resistant against rotting and air conditions compared to normal wood. Since it is produced with natural methods without using chemical agents, it is very healthy for lives of people. Since the glucose, resin and citric acid is emptied during the process, it has a very high biological resistance. Thermowood® method minimizes the physical changing factors such as turning, extending or shrinking and ensures that the wood has dimensional stability. Thanks to formulized controlled processes, color stability is obtained on the part. The product lightening with thermal process decreases the load on the structure for façade implementations and ensures strong heat insulation with lower thermal transmission. 


Thermowood® process may only be implemented by the manufacturers of “International Thermowood Association” and only such establishments may use Thermowood® commercial trademark. As one of the fourteen official manufacturers over the World complying the production criteria and membership conditions, NASWOOD continues its production under NasThermowood brand.

PINEWOOD

The pinewood procured from the sustainable forests of Finland (FSC) and Northern Europe is one of the most preferred tree types thanks to decorative image and heights. The pine is not resistant against external conditions in natural conditions. Therefore, the resistance and rigidity of pinewood products increases significantly thanks to Thermowood® process implemented by NasThermowood. NasThermowood pinewood resistant against environmental conditions are preferred especially in façade coats.

ASHEN WOOD

Ashen wood with origins from Northern Europe and Northern America is a tough tree group providing best results after Thermowood® process. The ashen trees with good features such as its color and resistance are the tree showing the texture of the tree in the best way. The ashen trees not having high resistance to external weather conditions in its natural conditions obtain a much longer life after Thermowood® process. It is a valid preference to use the NasThermowood ashen wood products in structures with significant aesthetics.

  • Thermowood® process
  • Without chemicals, wood is treated with high temperature and steam at 180-220 ° C.
  • These operations take place in 3 phases: "Drying", "Heat Treatment", "Conditioning"
  • Phase 1 | DRYING PROCESS:
  • In this phase wood is treated with heat and steam. The temperature is rapidly increased to 100 ° C and almost all the noodle inside the wood is removed during this process.
  • Phase 2 | HEAT TREATMENT:
  • In this phase, 180-220 ° C heat is applied. Wood is exposed to high heat for 2-3 hours according to the end use purpose. 
  • In this process all the remaining noodles are thrown out of the wood. 
  • Phase 3 | Conditioning:
  • In this phase, cooling is done with water spraying systems.
  • When the temperature reaches 80-90 ° C, the humidity adjustment process starts and the humidity of the wood is adjusted to 4-7%.

Along with obligation to be the official manufacturer of International Thermowood Assication to realize Thermowood® production, one must have a strong infrastructure and technology required for the production. As an official manufacturer of the Association, Naswood continues its thermally processed wood productions under NasThermowood brand.  Thermowood® production is realized at Muğla factory of the group with an indoor surface area of 10.000 m2 established over 15.000 m2.

NasThermowood audited by independent quality control system presents Thermowood® products according to procedures and original techniques. It became the leading establishment of the industry with strong investments and technology.
