Thanks to its strong structural properties, CLT is widely used as wall material in timber construction and has also become a building element used in many other applications, including floors, ceilings, stairs and even wind-turbine structures.nnAt the beginning of the 20th century, timber was largely abandoned in construction in favor of concrete and steel systems because of their practicality and ease of processing. However, as concepts such as sustainability, renewable energy resources, greenhouse-gas emissions and global warming have become increasingly important, the search for alternatives has begun again. Cross-laminated timber has emerged as an important innovation in this context and has earned the place it deserves in the construction industry. It has become a strong building material that can also be used safely in multi-storey structures.nnSeeing timber as a building material of the future, Naswood established Turkey’s first CLT panel production facility through investments at its Antalya factory. While Naswood uses a significant portion of its CLT production in its own projects and wooden houses, it also manufactures project-specific CLT panels for its customers.
